I inherited a 4x4 6.0 excursion which has a 6" lift on it. I am moving toward lowering it back down to stock or near stock height.
I am planning to do the following. V springs in the front and modded B in the rear with Rancho 9000 shocks and moving to 33" tires instead of 37".
Other than new U bolts in the rear, can someone please help me with any additional parts that I would need in the front? From my research looking through other posts it looks like I would need a new track arm bar, pitman arm, and factory sway bar end link. However, I am not 100% sure of this and am not very mechanical. Any help is greatly appreciated!
technically true but if he is lowering it to achieve better handling than he would certainly want to use the shorter stock ones.
not to mention longer steering box life
I was assuming he had a stock pitman, lots of guys do 6” lifts and neglect to use a drop pitman. I’m at 4 1/2” and my adjustable track bar and drag link are parallel.
I had an excursion with an 8" lift. It was an all springs lift. From an old thread here is a list of parts I gathered.
Here is a link to that thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11802543 This was done over 10 years ago so some things may have changed slightly.
Not listed here is the stock front drive shaft, I purchased.

I am finishing up on a similar modification. I purchased an X with an 8' inch superlift kit on it.
Here are the original parts I had to obtain first. Stock pitman arm Stock track bar bracket. Stock sway bar end links Stock shock brackets. Stock rear leaf springs to Mod the B's Stock rear block.
Things purchased new for the v/b setup. New shocks New front V code springs New Rear B code springs All new u-bolts and nuts Rear sway bar -Hellwig
Like I said I just finshed this up so everything is fresh in my mind. I will PM you my number if you would like to talk more about it.
The worst part about this change for me was the fact that I had to lift the truck so high to get the old springs off.
I’m very much interested in doing this same thing to my X I just bought. I bought it to take the family on vacation along with the dogs. Just took the dogs for their first ride and lifting a 120lb Great Dane into the back seat sucks with 6” lift and 35s. I think I’d be much happier with a closer to factory height with 33s. What kind of hub to fender measurement will the V/modBs give you? This will clear 33s with no problem?
Prior to this first trip with the dogs I was thinking ProComp 4” springs and keeping 35s, I’m over that already though if I can fairly easily get a little lower.
My excursion actually got totaled out. Someone tried to steal it when we were in vacation in Mexico. Feel free to keep the thread going 05DSG250, if you need to.
