no start.

no start.

i have a 86 f250 4x4 6.9 4spd new injection pump all glow olugs good and power to them, new controler. good batteries,starter cables could not locate any air leaks. will only start cold with a touch of ether,doesnt matter if plugged in or not. after getting started and running for a second will restart no problem. what am i missing?

Are you sure all the plugs are working? How cold are we talking?

Please make sure those plugs AREN'T working before you give it any either. We don't want any blown pre-cups.

Just because it is plugged in doesnt mean it should start. It takes time for the block heater to heat the engine to a start temp. One of the glow plugs will cause a hissy fit in cold weather. Ether will cause the heads to lift off the block if the glow plugs ignite it. If it has to be cranked for some time there is the possibility of fuel leaking back. The fuel does not always show up as a leak on the return lines. Keep us posted.
