I've got a 2016 F150 with the 5.0 V8. It has a very distinct rattle in the engine during acceleration. I can only hear it at low speed mainly 1st and 2nd gear around 1800 rpms. It almost sounds like a knock. I'd say peak rpms before shifting during normal driving is the only time i hear it. When revving the engine in neutral it sounds fine. Has anyone experienced this?
Ditto on the heat shields. Had that problem on a Tacoma I once had. It could also be the gas you're using. I noticed a knock/rattle in my 2020 F150 at low speed....1st or 2nd gear. Tried a different brand of gas and don't hear it. Just a thought.
The welds on one of my heat shields broke and I could only hear it if I was in a drive though or going past something. A simple clamp fixed that, no more noise.

Dang heat shields are typically tack-welded at the corners, and sometimes a couple more places. Any one of them cuts loose, and you have a custom-made rattle generator. Also check the shields on the catalytic converters.
