One of the studs on my v10 exhaust manifold is busted. I know this is a super common issue, my question is this an 'avoid driving til its fixed' issue or no? If not, what signs should I be watching/listening for to know its definitely time. Just bought the truck last weekend and knew about the issue just wondering how quickly I need to address it.
Stealing/Continuing post: I also have one broken stud, but there is an obvious "rattle"-sound upon startup (it doesn't last long). Is the leak at the one broken stud enough to cause damage, or, as you have already stated, wait til more break?

I recently picked up a 2014 F 550 with the V10 6.8 gas. Noticed a ticking noise so we did a smoke test on the exhaust system and confirmed I had exhaust leaks with three broken studs on driver side, and one broken on passenger side. I’m in the middle of changing the exhaust manifold on the driver side, YouTube is a godsend, nearly impossible to get to the lower studs over the engine mount so I took a saws all and cut the manifold at the flanges, and that worked great. So far I’ve gotten nine out of 10 studs out. Hopefully I’m on the homestretch. You need patience because this is not a one day job and go to Harbor freight and buy a boatload of bits. An easy outs and right angle drills just so you have everything you need, you can always take back what you don’t use.

I used one of these form the local auto parts store for the V10 I briefly had. Worked great, I did have to heat a few of the studs too.
