My Fe and C6 are setup on the 69 chassis. The drive shaft is not connected. I've started plumbing all of the accessories and putting in fluid.
When I shift the transmission back to park, it grinds. Now, there is no body on this truck, I'm just tugging on the linkage to shift and it's pretty clumsy.
I suspect it's grinding because there is no load, but I thought I'd check in with the gurus. If there is a problem, I'd like to fix it before I do the body swap.
Any ideas, other ideas for diagnostics? The tranny was rebuilt about 2 years and 4000 miles back. This thing will be seeing upwards of 600lb-ft of torque, so I want to verify it's in good shape. The rebuild was a quality one as best I can tell. I told him there would be some power in front of it and it cost about $850. He seemed to know what he was doing altough I know almost nothing about the voodoo of auto trannies:-)
wait till it stops spinning?? if its still spinning because the driveshaft is not connected, this would be like trying to put it in park while rolling down the road.
With out the load of the drive shaft, it will still spin the tranny a little. It's gonna grind the park prawl untill you hook the shaft up, or shut it off, then go into park.
