I'm at my wits end with the emissions system on this truck. Seems like I've had every part fail except the filter. DEF heater, DEF injectors, NOX sensors, etc. I took it in the shop on the 18th with the Exhaust System Fluid Fault and they said both NOX sensors have failed so it is currently a rolling paperweight since this code will put it in limp mode. Ford is saying the parts are on a nationwide backorder until mid-February so I will be without my truck for a month if they come in when they say.
So here is my question. If you were in a pinch and could find used NOX sensors are they just plug and play or does something have to be reset or calibrated for the truck to accept them?
If you are dealing with the dealer then I would just wait. I know it's a pain but if you replace them then Ford will not warranty them. I believe this is part of the reflash for the emission system. Ford is supposed to cover this repair I believe.

They are covering the originals under warranty so I'm good there. What I'm curious about is if I was able to find new or used sensors is there anything I need to do to get the truck to read them once installed? Does any programming need to be reset. If not then great, I can change them out in less than 30 mins and when the new parts come in I can stick the old ones back in before going back to the dealership. Then I'd have a spare set if this ever happens when I'm on a road trip and not near a dealership.
