Wheel Locks

Can anyone here help? I for the life of me cannot seem to find the key to my wheel locks. About the only search result I get from the internet is use a socket just big enough and bang it onto the wheel lock so as to grip the lock and loosen it. Is there another way?

I just brought my truck to the mechanic and didn't have my wheel lock key.... but the mechanic opened it no problem with the socket trick. This guy has 3 options
good luck

I would talk to a high volume tire shop in your area, this is more common than one thinks. Socket trick might work, but the high torque (150 i think) makes it easier to slip than a measly 90 torque on say a Honda car. Good luck.

A place like NTB will more than likely have a key that will fit.

They make special sockets for rounded off nuts. The socket is oversize and contains hardened steel pins that dig into the nut as you turn it. That should do the trick.

If they're factory, you should be able to hit up the dealer with your VIN and they may be able to order you a new key. If they're not...yeah good luck.

Just do what it takes to get them off. Unless you have a Raptor or 22” Limited wheels, no one will steal them.

Having been a retired police officer from Cleveland for 25 yrs. and my son retired from 34 yrs. in Charlotte, the total number of stolen wheels reports we have taken or heard of is zero. I have taken my wheel locks off of my many vehicles for this reason. Remember, this is not 1960. This is my take. Believe it or not. Think about it, how many people do you know that have had wheels stolen, not many I'll bet.

I'm surprised wheels / tires aren't stolen more than they are. Tires can be expensive anymore.

The 22” GM wheels get stolen all the time. Sometimes Raptor wheels/tires do. Most F150 wheels aren’t appealing to thieves.
