10+ years ago, on this forum, there was a discussion about the venerable Highboy steering setup and how hard it was to get parts for it. The steering cylinder is a D4TZ3A540A and at that time there were about three left in all of the US. I bought one. Fast forward to several years ago, the cylinder on my truck started leaking badly and I said, "Yah boy! I have a BRAND NEW one on the shelf!" So I got it out and went to change it, and, its not the right one. It looks like the one that is in there, but way too small. It looks like a 2/3 scale model of the one in the Highboy. So I had mine rebuilt and it works great now.
So I have this brand new rebuilt Ford power steering cylinder. It must fit some vehicle, I just don't know what, other than it DOESN'T fit a highboy. I'd like to see some fellow restorer get it that needs one. It has a Bendix logo on it, and AF 19A 128580 stamped on it. Here is a picture as well.
Number Dummy or anyone else, any idea what this is or what it fits?
With a D4 casting number,it's to late for the muscle car resto guys and probably won't bring the big money like the eBay deal...if you sell it.You never know, though. It IS new
