Most of the issues were with the 2020 model year (first year for the 10 speed).
Read some of the threads on here, lots and lots of people LOVE the 10 speed.
That is one of the reasons I ordered a new truck rather than going used.
As I sit here reading posts about the 10 speed having issues while I patiently wait for my truck that was ordered 12/16/21.
Im starting to wonder if I screwed up. How prevalent are the transmission issues? Do they even know how to fix it? Is anyone happy with the 10 speed?
Im waiting on a F250 XLT 7.3 with 4:30’s
I picked mine up in September and have been happy with it. With as many people are running them, even on this site, I don't see that many reporting issues... And FWIW, I specifically wanted the 10 speed after renting a 2020 F250 and putting 4000 miles on it with my camper in 2020. I liked the way it shifted way more than the 6 speed that was in the 2020 Ram that I rented and put 2000 miles on. Both trucks were pulling my camper. The F250 was through the western mountains, the Ram was down to the Atlantic coast, so mostly flat lands... After driving the 10 speed, the 6 speed wasn't even close to being enjoyable!

im coming from a 6.4 6 speed Ram. The gear ratios in that transmission are horrible.
So far, the 10 speed on my truck is fantastic... EXEPT for FORD's engineers pick of shift points... It's ssooo middle of the road,..I find myself shifting manually... I think the TH mode should have 2 modes... normal and MAX... The transmission, in its present mode does NOT, shift down fast/early enough, and... Thus, more often than not, it "needs " to shift down, 2 gears more than it "should". "if " it would have shifted earlier... To re-gain the speed that the cruse control was set on, and it lost enough speed because it was in the wrong gear, to now, try and make up that speed...
That Is my conclusion/opinion of the 10 speed transmission on my truck as I used it for the last 6 months... ZERO problems otherwise...

Before I picked my own truck up I was driving a Chevy Cobalt with a manual 5 speed transmission and my wifes Pathfinder had a CVT drive in it. The first time I rented a truck to pull our camper (Enterprise Truck Co.) I actually wanted a Ram but they told me I was getting the F250 when I got there... I was a little bummed, but when they pulled it around I thought, wow, that's pretty nice (even just being an XLT... not that I really knew what the trim levels were at that time anyway...) When I got in I noticed it had 52 miles on it, so that was pretty cool! The next 4000 miles on it was towing and to be honest, I don't even recall that I noticed the shifting... it just ran smooth, and being a diesel, the RPM's stayed low, even pulling up 8% grades with the camper in tow. I didn't have to even think about it, so it was great!
A few months later I rented another truck (from Enterprise Truck Co.) and this time I ended up with the 2020 Ram. It had 20k miles on it and was pretty obvious it had been used somewhat hard. I pulled our (6000 GVWR) camper from north MS to near Daytona Beach with the Ram. There are a few hills getting through AL, but nothing even close to the mountains we were in out west with the Ford, but wow, the 6 speed in the Ram was horrible. I would constantly loose speed going up "hills" until the truck dropped a gear and then I would slowly pick speed back up. I did use the tow/haul mode (in both trucks actually) so I'm sure that if I had used manual and shifted myself it would have been different, but it was this trip that made me think back to how smooth the trip with the F250 with the 10 speed was.
So, when it came time to order my own truck, I knew I wanted the Ford, and the 10 speed was on my list of wants! Like mentioned above, I think most of the threads I've seen about 10 speed issues was from the 2020 line up (which is the same one I rented and was just fine). But, like anything today, there are lemons out there, and given the current situation, maybe more than normal. I'll say though that I am very happy with mine so far, although I only have 3000 miles on mine so far...
I am okay with the 10 in my truck, I believe 8 speeds would have been plenty.
Mine shifts super smoothly, often I don't even realize that it has shifted up or down.
It is programmed to get into 10th as soon as possible and stay there, but with the diesel that isn't any problem, can't comment on the gasser.
Only issue with mine is the occasional harsh downshift to 1st coming up to a stop.

I have about 250 miles on my truck now and have noticed that a lot, shifting from 1st to 3rd, etc. I'm doing 45mph and it's already in 8th gear. Slowing down to stop sing and still sitting in 6th, then downshifts quickly to first. I have used Manual a couple of times to make sure I run thru all the gears.

Do you have a 3.31 final drive?
Why do you want to run through all the gears?
You have to remember that people on forums like this are disproportionally whiney. Happy people are less likely to get on here (or other product specific forum) and say how happy they are. Unhappy people are more likely to have something to say. Either they are honestly seeking assistance and come here for help, or are just looking for a place to vent. More often, just venting. Some vent a lot.
When we go to a restaurant, we are more likely to speak to the manager after receiving less-than-stellar service, right?
I figure the voices of complaint seem 5 times as loud as they should, because happy folks don't make much noise.
As to the 10 speed:
1. No real design issues, but some manufacturing issues in the beginning. Same with the 7.3 engine.
2. I really like mine. And the 7.3 that came with it.
not impressed with the transmission on my '22 7.3 Tremor. low speed stuff is jerky but not consistently so. the 3-5 shift seems problematic.
generally love the truck otherwise but whether the issue is shift logic or something mechanical the transmission as installed in my truck should not have been released to the public.
General rule of thumb with forums is if you want to find an issue with your truck go a forum.
All my life I have been a part of a forum dating back to my 2007 GM with AFM lifter issues and it is very rare that I have the issues that are discussed. Weather it’s Cp4 related, dead pedal, junky turbo, jerky 10 spd. They sell millions of these trucks and the forum members with issues is such a small number.
