I have a 1991 Ford F-150 and about a month ago I took her to a mechanic to put a new steering column in her and he put a new solenoid in her as well. Then the following week all she would do was crank and then eventually she wouldn’t even crank with the key so I thought it could’ve been the cold temps so I put a new battery in her with 850 cranking amps but she still did nothing. Then I took her back to him and he found out it was the solenoid so he replaced it again. He said she needed a tuneup and he didn’t want to do it so I took her to a different repair shop which did a tuneup and we told them to look at a fuel problem that she was having and a high idle but they said they couldn’t find anything so we took her to Fox Ford and they said the only problems they found was the throttle position sensor and the solenoid. They put a new solenoid in her once again and replaced the throttle position sensor and she ran and started up fine with no high idle or fuel problem. I got her home and made sure she started up again and than drove about 30 miles to my moms, pulled in the driveway shut it off waited a few then went to crank it again and nothing, it wouldn’t even crank! Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Manual Lever Position Sensor(MLPS) on transmission, loose linkage, loose column.
At least you found the problem.
If it continues, try in neutral, and or hold the lever up in park.
