Oil cooler help

As everyone knows, on the 7.3 your oil cooler is bound to start leaking eventually. I pulled mine and got the new o rings on it. I installed the housing closest to the front of the truck just by itself. I then pressed the other housing onto the cooler while it was outside of the truck. I was then going to put it up under the truck and press the whole thing into the front housing. My problem now is that when I'm laying under the truck there's just no way to get enough force to push those o rings into the front housing. I'm about fed up to the point where I'm just going to take the truck to a shop but I'm not sure if anyone will even touch it since I already tore it apart. Any tips on how to get this thing back in?? Much appreciated

I did something similar. I put the front part on the tube and fished it in and bolted the front. The I was able to get a short pry bar on the back end to press it in. Make sure you grease them rings real good it helps

it is doable, I had one with a bolt with a striped hex on the front housing and one bolt that was seized. the gasket wasn't leaking so I just left the front housing mounted and removed the rear and the tube and re sealed it. I put my heat gun on the front housing, a lot of vasaline on the o rings and pressed it together with a pry bar.

Just did this myself for the first time last week. Exactly what the last two guys said, lots of lube and a pry bar to press in. I used the pry bar against the rear housing and the exhaust manifold and it slipped right in. Look hard enough and you will find guys on you tube using this method. Most will say it's not the preferred way but i found when doing this solo it was near impossible to do with everything already put together in one assembly. I did remove the bottom radiator hose and negative battery ground to make bolting up the front housing a bit easier. To each his own, good luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm heading out to the garage now to give it another shot. I'll let you know how it goes

Forgot to hop back on here. Install went perfect using a pry bar. Been driving the truck for the past 2 or 3 days with no issues. Appreciate the advice guys
