Bio- Diesel?
A good friend of mine in the mountains of north GA told me the following one time...
"Veggie oil is not a fuel source, it is a lifestyle and a hobby that takes practice, time and attention to detail".
SHOOOOOSHHH YOU!!!
As my truck sits about 65 gallons low on fuel where it is parked, I have thought about running out to the interstate to fill up as the upward trend of prices is not leveling out much. I think I diesel was $3.39 yesterday when we were in town and gasoline was $2.95 for regular.
A few years ago I found a carbon copy from a credit card slider like from the old days. It was from 1992 or something like that when premium gasoline was less than a dollar. I got a pretty good laugh out of it as I remember driving by fuel stations when premium was $1.00 and saying "that price is ridiculous, I'm not paying that much for gas".

That's right, Brandon! My oil stocks have been keeping my personal stock portfolio afloat here lately. My account in a manager's hands has taken some big hits. Right now, I am glad to have those fuel tanks out by the garage, my diesel tank lasts about a year and a half.
With diesel heading back up to $5.00 a gallon again (up to $7.00 per gallon at some stations in CA), have you considered making your own fuel again?
Even if petro diesel was only $2.00 per gallon, your cost of 75 cents per gallon is still only 37.5% of 2.00, or only 25% of 3.00, or only 18.75% of 4.00.
So why did you stop making it?

I think my response to @Sous once declaring VO isn’t a fuel was ‘it IS a fuel, but it is also a hobby (collecting, filtering and storing WVO)’. I have burned WVO for over 300k miles and more significant to me than saving $$ during that time - my kids have traveled all over the country - on trips that we could have never afforded without ‘free fuel’.
Anyway, on store bought bio-d. They’ve been doing this a long time now and appear to be pretty good at making consistent fuel - enabling manufacturers’ to be comfortable saying ‘B20’ is safe. At the end of the day, the only way biodiesel ever makes it to the pump is government subsidies and local mandates. I guarantee NOBODY buys biodiesel to sell if they don’t have to and I promise the petroleum industry hates it (and not because it’s ‘competition’ - because they are forced to deal with it in places where it is mandated).
I'm in the great state of Texas also...do all the Love's carry the high bio mix...and what concentration percentage is considered a high bio mix?

I used to make biodiesel when dino diesel was up around $5 a gallon some years back. I have ran it in both our trucks straight 100% with no issues...also ran it in a couple of tractors too. One thing to keep in mind I don't see mentioned here is it will clean your entire fuel system including your tank. What that means is if you have any trash/algae in your tank, it will clean that out and put it in your filter. So it is recommended that you wing it, meaning mix your first tank with say 20% bio and 80% dino, then next tank 50% to 50%, and so on. This way you're not clogging stuff up initially, though I never had an issue with this. I also didn't feel any difference in power loss but did see a slight decrease in mpg...like 1 or 2...but given the fact if I got the oil free, it was only costing me %0.75+- a gallon to make it so no biggie...
ah, the good old days. We used to make ~200 gallon a week and had the price down to about $0.15/gallon (2005-2008). Everything was working well, but then BHO became potus and the price of everything skyrocketed. It was no longer financially beneficial to produce bio.
The 7.3, dad's 5.9, and all the tractors really seemed to like the bio. they ran well. Always used to laugh that people would comment they smelled french fries when they would get close to the truck.

Reports of those are coming in from all over the country. They do seem to be big on fuel pumps but have also been seen in grocery stores.
