Engine Rebuild Questions
For all of you guys that have rebuilt and upped the performance on your 7.3’s. I have a question. I am in the beginning stages of rebuilding my 7.3. I had no issues with my motor other than the block cracking from freezing. The motor ran fine. My question is should I replace the lifters? If so, I’ve heard that Ford used the same lifters all the way through the 6.4, with the only difference being stronger roller to compensate for the steep lobes on the 6.0 cam. Is this true? And can I use these lifters for my 7.3?

Believe it or not, the same lifters were used in the GM 6.2/6.5 and Navistar's IDI offerings too.
Buy the cheapest name-brand ones you can if you feel the need to replace them. In a low-buck 7.3L, they're not under much stress and hopefully the fuel dilution issues that plague the 6.4L don't happen in your 7.3.
