I have a brand new 2022 F350, and whenever I hit the trailer brake controller inside the cab, I get this error message. Does anyone know what the issue could be? I tried to plug inside the bed or on the bumper and they both do the same thing
All of the lights working. Directionals work. The brake lights work. But there is no actual power going to the brakes
did you try taking the 7 pin apart and adding dielectric grease? I was having the same issue on my 16 f150 and that fixed it
I did install grease on all of the connections the other day. This is the first time I unplugged my fifth wheel camper into this plug. I tried the plug in the bumper, and the plug inside the bed. And they are both doing the same thing
I also get this message when I try and adjust the breaking effort
Husky,
Anytime the brake controller detects an open or shorted circuit, you will see this fault. It's time to get out a multimeter and check your trailer brake circuit. I had a dog 🐕 chew only my brake wires up. Then a few weeks later another dog 🐕 chewed through only my fridge power cable resulting in some food being wasted. Dogs aren't welcome here any more.

My ‘22 did the same thing with one of my trailers. Come to be faulty connection inside the plug of the trailer.
if you need comfort it’s NOT the truck, go plug into another trailer with brakes and slide the manual brake lever. Fairly confident it’s the trailer side, not your truck

I agree, it’s not the truck. Every time it has happened to me, I find something faulty with the trailer wiring. Like the OP, my last issue, everything worked except the trailer brakes. I tracked the brake wiring and found a poor wire nut connection on the trailer. Solder and shrink tubing solved the problem.
Ground issue on the trailer will do it also. Easy way to test that is run a jumper wire from a good clean chassis bolt on the truck to a good clean chassis bolt on the trailer and then test drive it.
I had one trailer that was able to ground through the ball in the summer but once the ball started rusting in the winter then it always gave me that warning. I pulled the junction box under the trailer apart and sure enough the wire nut that went to the frame ground wire on the trailer to the trailer plug harness ground wire had come undone. I put a ring terminal on the ground wire, drilled a small hole, put in a nice beefy self tapping screw into the main beam of the trailer, no more issues. Any trailer i have ever taken apart the wiring box on the work inside that box has been done half assed, for what they charge for trailers they really should do a better job on the wiring and sealing the wiring in that box also so it doesn't corrode so easily.
