LED Headlight Icing

Ok guys. You that live in the snow and have LEDs what are you doing to keep the snow and ice from packing on your headlights?

I had to scrape the ice off my headlights twice between Jackpot, NV and Jerome, ID which is about a 60 mile stretch.

Are these the OEM Ford LED headlights?

That's the one drawback of LED's in colder climates.

I only have 600 miles on my truck with OEM LEDs and thus far have not had to deal with this. Though I fully expect I will sooner than later as I live in Canada..... Interested to hear if anyone has any suggestions.

Happened to me on Christmas Eve 2020 when a storm hit while at church. The drive home was "interesting" as I kept saying that I could barely see the road! This was the first time in snow with the after-market LED headlights...not until I got home did I realize that they didn;t generate enough heat to melt the snow away...oh well, I still MUCH prefer them over the stock (crap) headlights that came on my 2019 F-250.

RainX the lenses helps tremendously, wax might work also.

I usually do that anyway but good thought. Now to wait until the weather isn't -20deg Celsius so I can RainX and/or wax them. lol... I don't have a garage....

Wax helps (Rain-X, anything that creates a slick surface) but if the conditions are right, sometimes it's just inevitable. I've had ice pack on halogen lights also.

Same here. When it's blowing hard, snowing hard and below 20F I try to pull off every 30 miles or so to clean off the lights, wipers and rear license plate. Even halogen lights aren't warm enough.

I know this is a problem with aftermarket LEDs but do the Ford ones have the same issue?

I have paint protection film on my LED headlights. I don't know if the PPF is the key or the wax I put on the film, but I don't have any ice buildup.

I don't have any ice on my headlights. Course, it's been in the 40s here for weeks.
