I'm building a hydraulic tilt-deck treework truck.
Base rig is heavily rusted F250 extended cab 7.3/ZF5 long box, PTO output.
Looking to extend the wheelbase to accommodate a ~10' flatbed, so I'm inclined to acquire a crewcab 4wd frame, and build my own rear cab mounts, & swap my drivetrain & ext cab.
I've got a kingpin Dana 60 and duallie Dana 70 to go beneath.
Do you guys know what year of frame would be best? I have a line on a 1989 frame for $200, just not familiar with any differences.
They offered cab and chassis trucks that hads frames just for this. As well as thr F superduty.
Not sire on the specific differences, but I'm pretty sure the frame was just a tad thicker and boxed. The sheet metal between all the trucks was the same, so there can't be too many differences.
4wd cab chassis frames are pretty rare iirc. I extended my f250's frame. Added several feet of c channel to the rear of the frame behind the rear axle. It now has a 6x10 flatbed.
I would be looking for a 161" wheel base F350 or F-superduty cab-n-chassis to splice to your supercab frame.
Ford never made a super or crewcab cab-n-chassis trucks. Anything you may have seen is a conversion.
I am looking to do the same thing to my 95 F-superduty to put a supercab on
Brad is correct that Ford never made a Super or Crew Cab 4x4 F350 Cab-n-Chassis vehicle. they only came in Regular cab. They will have Body/Chassis/Model Code F38 in the VIN.
