Motor ID?

Please help! New to the forum and trying to figure out what motor was originally in my 1952 F-2 and what is currently in it now... the vin on the frame is F2D2RH17873 the number I found on the block is EAA-8015-B it is very similar to a 215 but I noticed the oil filter is closer to the starter on mine and all the other 215s ive seen, the fuel pump/filter is closer to the starter...

EPB is referring to the 223 akin to EAA revering to the 215.

thank you, my grandfather gave it to me as my first truck about sixteen years ago on the drive home I blew the soft plug on the back of the block and parked it. I fired it up a couple times just to make sure and it still runs great.

That is a 215 in your pictures. The very similar motors with the distributor moved forward are the 223s (or the not very common 262s).
Great looking project.

Awesome! Thank you for clearing that up, one more question i have is what is the metal tube next to the bellhousing behind the exhaust manifold? What does it do?

That is your crankcase vent, better known as a road draft tube. As you drive, air passes by the end of the tube creating a vacuum drawing crankcase fumes and pressure out. In the 60's the road draft tube was replaced by the positive crankcase ventilation system, or PCV valve.

Can't really tell from the picture but is similar to early V8s. If it is a V8 its likely 1932-36, could be as late as 41.

Flathead V8s up through 47 in trucks and 48 in cars used the oil pan with built on bottom of the bell housing.
If you really want to ID the engine you can read through the big thread we did on the Ford Barn a while back:https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...5301&showall=1
