I wish Ford would add a function to 3D camera system
With what I can see in the 3D images it looks like the truck is pretty well covered with a camera. In the past I have had hit and run damage at a boat ramp. People just can't park trailers. I've also had vandalism on my previous F350 about a year ago.
Hey Ford, how about a function that we could turn on that would allow cameras to operate and record events when anyone or something gets close? It looks like anyone striking the vehicle or vandalizing would be recorded good enough to get identified. Security cameras anyone??
Get a dash cam with that feature built in. I've had one for several years and although it only records front and rear, it has a shock sensor built in to get the footage, if it gets hit on the side you still might record the miscreant that did it pulling away and use that to prosecute in court for damages or at the least have something to show the police and your insurance.
I believe Tesla has the feature built into their vehicles.
Yes, Tesla has what's called Sentry Mode. It watches all the time from all the cameras.
Ford, Chevy, and all the others have cameras all over the car, why not set up a sentry mode from there?!
I've asked that question numerous times!

You ready to pay the additional costs for it and potential delays for it needing to be serviced at the dealer under warranty? Eventually it'll be out, but for the first few years it'll probably be optional only for probably about $3K and would be recorded and saved on the cloud probably exclusively.

Haven't heard of anybody needing to get it serviced.. and there's no way it would be $3k since it already has Wi-Fi, 5G internet, and all the cameras. It's practically already set up to do that!

They would still find away to charge more for it. Also, its Ford, or really any of the major automotive manufacturers. Front facing cameras and the like do take time for them to get it right. Usually one or two years after launch of that particular item.

It's free for the first three years. Afterwards, I'd gladly pay $25 a month then read my morning newspaper. The money goes to them perfecting the technology as well. It is not free, you know? And Ford has been experimenting with it for ten years. If we can get COVID vaccine in a year, I'm sure the ten years of research is good enough for a self-driving car.
