1977 F-250...Ive lost my fool mind.

So it's started. Located tires and a buddy put them on for my dad. Sorry about the photo quality, my dad is 77 and I am just thankful he can use an iPad. lol

Now we have to pull the thing out of the ground and get it ready to be loaded onto a hauler whenever that comes.

Nothing like going full retard!!! lol Wish me luck and send all the vibes you can!

I don't see the problem. A good project truck. Dad time. It looks like all win to me!

I lost my mind years ago. Gave up looking for it. Anytime spent with dad is good time.

Duuude...seriously ?

When you start cutting and realize what you've gotten into don't feel like you can't turn back.

True, but then again I did sign the dotted line with Uncle Sam. Quality decisions and knowing my limitations has never been a strong suit of mine!!! 😬

Really though, if a serious project is what you want wouldn't something like this and some of your parts be SOOOOO much easier ? if you don't like this there are others.

Before you start pulling that apart, get another truck lined up that at a minimum you can rob the cab and bed off of. Yours are shot through with rot in more places than I could see reasonably fixing. 2WD trucks are cheap enough you can probably get a whole vehicle for less than sheetmetal panels would cost you.

This is what I like about FTE, some folks take a challenge head on. Because in the end, they (the OP) knows WE (the good folks at FTE) all have a ton of experience, answers, opinion (both side of the fence), parts locating know how ect...Plus a whole bunch of ideas, help and they know that we are here for them and their new addiction.

The same Ford truck addiction that (we FTE'ers) have. So voice your opinion, give some input, helpful advice and lets get this guy going. He already has had a ton of Hell no....rust bucket...run like you teeth are on fire...

If you think its a lost cause truck, free world...voice you opinion. But on the same note you can then take advantage of the way you the power to unsubscribe to the thread. That way you will not be bothered by his decision to save another one, no matter how bad.

I advised the guy of all the obvious problems and some possible courses of action. Especially with the roof rust. Bottom line, his truck, his time, his money, so his call. I will support his passion to get this truck back to the living side. Besides he and it have family history, it is his dads truck (one owner), he rode in it as a kid.

I am here for the long haul giving positive support and probably some patch panels along the way. I am good with that.

You'll get it, just got to keep the motivation up and remember that it can end up in pieces in the corner if you dont take the next step toward driving down the road (lord knows I've got boxes and shells that I've lost motivation on all over the place, BUT I've also got some pretty cool stuff that goes down the road nice and tight)

Good luck sir

That's one way of looking at it, but stopping a kid from getting hooked on drugs is better than saying you'll support him once he's addicted is basically what it amounts to. it's better not to start in the first place.

But if the OP has made the decision to undertake an obviously bad investment and spend the next 5 years cutting and grinding that's his choice. I'm not going to ridicule someone for choosing the hard way as long as they're aware they have much better options that save time and money. and that's all I have to say about that.

Carry on and I hope it goes great.

There’s cars that are restored around nothing but the vin, sure it’s out of necessity, there’s still a lot of 70s ford trucks. But the work can be done, you’re gonna spend the time doing something.

If enough people take on these projects one day we will have decent fitting repair panels, vw builders pulled it off. Doesn’t make much sense parting out vehicles in better shape to fix ones in worse shape.

440 so now I am an enabler....trust me I tried to get him to change his mind. We have talked off line and even on the phone. He is military also so we can relate in honest harsh terms. He is set on it, it is his dads truck. Is what it is I recon, I will advise, offer suggestions and help where I can. And be a supportive FTE member to a fellow FTE member. Better than abandonment.
