I don't much care for the **** for reversing although that might change when I have it, but the split screen mirror cameras seem pretty great. Is the only way to get the mirror cameras to have the pro trailer backup assist package?
They call it the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System and (unfortunately) it includes the pro trailer back up assist. They don't have an option to get it without the back up assist.
Thats a shame. Was hoping to find another way to get the mirror cameras without needing the pro backup package, but looks like the cameras and **** are tied together. Was hoping some trim level just came with the cameras.
Isn't it a bit ironic that the " pro trailer assist " is designed for people who can't back a trailer ? maybe it means incompetent drivers can now back like a pro.
I really wanted to add this to my '22 Lariat order but was told by my dealer the camera/assist package was only showing to be available with the high capacity towing package (53Q). This was a let down, as I don't really need the high capacity towing package and $2,785 just to have the cameras is a little ridiculous. I never used the **** on my '150 Platinum but the cameras were definitely nice to have.

This can happen if you click the wrong option. When building an F250 there are two different packages including the backup assist
F-250 Trailer Tow High Capacity with Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System and Pro Trailer Backup Assist Package
and
Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System with Pro Trailer Backup Assist
The dealer probably kept clicking the top one and not the bottom one. You can see it for yourself on the build site.
I've had that packaged on my last couple F-150's and I have to say, the camera set up is money. I've never once set up a trailer and used the little back up ****. I see no point. The cameras are a convenient thing to have, no doubt, but to hell with that damn ****.
The $1,655 option on the Ford site is the 53R option, which isn't showing to be available for the dealer to order. Might have something to do with the black appearance package but they are telling me it is not available to add.
I went a different route, and less $. I have a camera mounted to rear of my trailer. I have a screen (HERE ) that clips over my rearview mirror that only shows that camera. So now when I look at my mirror, I see behind trailer.

Your dealer is doing something wrong. It has nothing to do with the black appearance package.
X2, moving it to the 22 when it arrives. You can run with a single camera but I also have a camera that aims at the hitch and toggle between them when hitching up or running empty.
