If you had an option to trade a low mileage 2019 F450 limited for a brand new 2022 F450 platinum for a reasonable deal would you? Are the bugs worked out of the 10 speed transmission yet? Is the higher powered engine just as reliable? Have they addressed the issues with the fuse boxes on the newer ones? Any input would be appreciated
I have a 2019 F-250. Not a day goes by that the dealer doesnt contact me on some forum trying to get me into a 2022.
What they are doing is looking at what my monthly loan cost was at time of purchase. I have a 6.2 with 4.30s so they are using a 7.3 with 4.30s as an example deal. Im 3 years into ownership as of May.
They are offering an Identical lariat but with 7.3 and 10 speed. For about $30 or $50 more a month. For 5 years.
It kind of almost sounds like a pretty good deal. If I were resigned to having payments perpetually for the rest of eternity.
Considering the strong used truck market they could easily sell my truck for good money.
Unfortunately for them I paid the truck off over a year ago. So I have a 3 year old Lariat with 30,000 miles on it thats in near new condition. That... and Im married and want to stay that way.
I think its possible to work a pretty good deal depending on what you have.
The guys with 7.3/4.30 and 10 speed trannys are getting better MPG than I can get with the 6.2. So there is temptation.
But no... screw that.. Paid for truck is the best.
The 10 speed is a significant improvement IMO. Secondary to that, the engine refinements, then synch 4 and the 12 inch screen are the other significant differences, and finally the cosmetic changes to the front end grill / styling. Not sure, but you may also be getting the newer (improved??) CP4??
If you own a business and can depreciate it, then I’d say it makes sense. Or, maybe you just want the 22 MY upgrades. Not sure about the fuse box issue. What’s the cost difference they are offering?
It's probably a question of wants vs. needs. I'm in a similar situation, 30,000 miles also.
I can look at the improvements and appreciate them, yet my 2019 Lariat is an outstanding truck in every respect. Yes, larger screen is nice, 7.3 would be nice, 10 speed would be nice. Difference in gas mileage is really negligible.
Then, I consider $30,000 to upgrade to similar truck, more expensive property tax, more expensive insurance, couple thousand in sales taxes.
As much as I would enjoy the upgrades, it just doesn't make sense for me.
Same here. Dealer wants me to trade my 2019 for a 2022. A little more power would be fun, but I still see owners on this forum having issues with the 10 speed transmission, so I'll keep what I have.
This is the situation, ford is talking about buying back my 2019 do to an ongoing issue with the rear end. It needs to be rebuilt because it left the factory low on gear oil. I had owned the truck for around 15 months before this issue arose and now I’ve been waiting over 7 months for the parts to rebuild. Ford customer service is now talking about using the msrp of my truck towards a brand new one. I was not expecting to hear this when I talked to customer service. Another option could be they repair my 2019 and I keep it and get some $ back for all the inconvenience. Not sure if it will happen but I’m researching the new ones now in case it does, I have driven the10 speed and like it but not sure on reliability.
One thing to add is the navigation in Sync 3 will work forever, while Sync 4 with connected navigation is only good for a short time and then you have to pay a subscription fee.

Wow… that changes the scenario. I’d take the MSRP deal. New truck and you don’t have the headache of what may be on-going mechanical issues with the 19. You may get the new truck before the parts come in for the old one LOL.

I was inititially thinking about transmission reliability, and then as I was paying more attention, I started seeing lots of people having 6-speed transmission issues as well, so I concluded that being concerned with it is a moot point. Sure, there was a recall on the 10-speed, so at least they recognized a problem and were working to fix all affected units.
Using the msrp of my 2019 f450 limited I should be able to order a 2022 f450 platinum for pretty much a wash. I don’t really care for the look of the new limited interior and honestly the only reason I bought the limited in 2019 is because of the deal I got back then.
I would do the deal, but I also want the 10speed. Would also be dependent on if you could find a new one on the lot or incoming that has what you want. Waiting for a new one on order is crazy right now.
If you could buy some time and get a 23 I would definitely do it. I dont know when the order banks open but I read its an update and they are already building seats for them.
I think they fixed issues with the 10 speed. Mine is getting worked on right now but was a run of bad ones (supplier part issue precovid).
The reason I say the 19 may be more reliable is almost solely because of commodity supply issues.
3 years in and full msrp on trade is hard to beat. Plus starting fresh with new warranty.
A new truck and zero increase in debt is going to be hard to beat. Particularly if your already having the issue with the 19.
