Gas Mileage

Probably been discussed many times before but will do it again. I have a 2019 F250 with the 6.2 and 3.73 rear end, 4x4. The best mileage I can get out of this truck is about 13 on the highway. In town is about 9. Towing my 7300 lb travel trailer is 6.5 to 7 but I don't expect that to get any better. Are there any mods that can really help in everyday conditions?
Thanks

Not sure how you drive I get around 16 mpg on freeway empty, sitting at 10.8 average (winter) for my in town daily driving. Around 12.5 summer.
Pulling can be affected by so many things it’s hard to say.
‘17 ccsb 6.2 3.73 4x4.

SLOW DOWN
DRIVE EASIER
That is the best improvement in mileage you will see.

I don't know the mileage on your truck but when I had my 2012 6.2 3.73 4x4 and the mileage started to drop in to 13 mpg area it was nearing the time the plugs needed changing (16 of them), also the air filter. After the tune up the mileage climbed back into the high 14 low 15 mpg range again.

Probably wouldn't hurt to check all your slide pins on the calipers and relube them.

2019 CCsb 6.2/4.30s. Right now in NJ on winter fuel with some warm up idling Im mid 12s highway and 13s on county roads. average is close to 13. On summer fuel I can average 14s. Short periods to 17 happen off the dash. All numbers are off the dash. I dont do the math. I just watch to follow the trends looking for consistency.
The faster I go the more it uses regardless the road. But I drive like a lunatic.
My towing is usually light and on county roads. Mileage remains similar.
If your mileage was better before Id be looking at filters plugs and wires.

Truck in Sig gets 12-13 in stop and go city. Can squeeze 15 on the freeway. Get 9.5-10 towing 8000lb Airstream. I have the 4.30 axle and the 6.2 w/6 Speed Transmission.

6.5 towing that weight is trash. Nothing to offer but trade that one off and start over fresh.

2022 7.3 and 3.55 gears, OEM tires... I get right at 13 mpg in town and about 16 on the highway. I'm also at 5000 foot altitude also, so that makes a difference to the bad side of mileage.

There's not much you can do to improve mileage on these beasts, but there are a few things that help.
1. Keep after your maintenance - like be a little OCD about it.
2. Drive like you have all day to get there. Just keep your foot out of it. If you have ECO mode, use it.
3. Keep junk and clutter out of the truck, lighter is better.
4. Use a top tier gasoline
5. Tires are rated for fuel economy. And unfortunately, cool tires aren't the most efficient ones. Get a fuel efficient tire.
6. A tonneau cover may help with aerodynamics and give a little better mileage. And they keep your stuff out of sight and dry. And that ugly air dam is there for a reason. Leave it alone.

And I think that's about all you can do for fuel economy on these big trucks.

^^^^^^^^That^^^^^^^^

And also stay on top of your tire pressures monthly, use a digital gauge, it is pretty amazing what a few psi will do for rolling resistance.

I have the same basic truck as you except a 2021 version (see signature). I get close to 16 MPG on interstate, can't quite break 16. I get 13 or so around town. When I tow my 7,000 lb camper I get 8.5 MPG. I am pretty pleased with that considering what the truck is.

The only mod that will give you better mileage is trading into one with the 10 speed trans. That towing mileage is horrible. I towed 12k lbs this fall 800 miles and did over 9 mpg with my 7.3 3.73. My previous '12 6.2 3.73 truck did 14 highway at best, 12 average. The new truck with the 10 speed and bigger engine does 16-17 hwy, 9-10 towing. Trade values right now are INSANELY high. If you can wait for a new one, that is by far the best mod you could make.
