At one time or another, we've all had unwanted bird droppings on our vehicles. And on a previous F150, I had 'em pecking at their reflections in the sideview mirrors. Well, I went to investigate a tapping sound this morning and found one pecking at its reflection in one of my headlights! That explains the recent collection of droppings on my front bumper.
There's been more than one instance when I've had to put Walmart bags over my mirrors. One crazy robin and one crazy cardinal. Never had one pecking on my headlights, at least that I know of.
And I had a turkey buzzard that didn't lift off in time from the dinner table and hit my passenger mirror! I was doing 55 and luckily it just folded in. Days after my driver mirror was replaced under warranty. $1526 for a mirror! And it's a cheap one because it doesn't have BLIS or 360 camera.
I have turkeys that go around pecking at their reflection on the chrome bumpers. Funny thing is, they peck at my wife's Subaru which doesn't have any chrome. Just their reflection in the shiny paint.

Reminds me of a similar incident on a group motorcycle ride, except the buzzard was pulling up the entrails with him during liftoff until the lead rider got a face-full of 'em. I've come close to hitting bald eagles that were dining roadside.

Consider yourself luck that your dealing with small birds that cant do a lot of damage. Where i live we have mentally challenged Pileated Woodpecker who has broken several mirrors on vehicles in the neighborhood, this is a 18" tall bird! (pic from internet, not me). for a 2-3 month period in the late summer you need to fold your mirrors in or this bird goes to town on them breaking them. One day i hear this banging and i see him on the windshield of my neighbors car pecking away at it, i go scare him away, he goes one house over lands on their mirror, starts pecking on that. I scare him off that car, he goes another house over starts pecking on a jeep, i chased him off 6 cars in a row before he finally went back out to the woods.
One day last year I'm sitting at my dining room table eating and i hear some banging on a window in the other room, i figure its one of my drunk buddy's messing with me, i walk out to the other room and what do i see, the 18" pecker standing on my window ledge banging away at the outside glass window! I would have to think pecking on hard glass objects instead of rotted wood would hurt his head, but this one has been doing it for years so i guess not!

Same here, but my feathered terrorist was an Eastern Bluebird. I never knew one little bird could crap so much!
Last spring I had a stint where the starlings were building nests on the engine. They would swoop up onto the front tire, duck under the fenderwell, then drag twigs and grass up to weave all throughout the engine bay. In the span of me being gone to work for a shift (in the car), they would create enough of a mess that it took me an hour to clean out. Eventually I got rid of them, but it was frustrating to have happen for about 2 weeks straight on a truck that was only a couple weeks old!
