I ordered the new truck with a Customer-Placed Trailer Camera. Has anyone installed one of these on a Grand Design? I have a Momentum 351MS on order and would like to be able to use that camera for backing. I plan on getting the 7" Furrion Vision S 4-Camera System with LED Marker Lights but would like to have both.
Don't mount the camera too high. I mounted mine way up above my cargo door, almost to the roofline. The level of detail is enough to tell that something is there, but sometimes colors merge and I miss things.

Thanks! Where did you run the wire?
I am thinking about mounting the camera on a temporary mount that is mounted to the bumper. Then I would run the wire along the underside. Would something like that work?

I ran it over the roof. I have it off the trailer at this time. When I replaced the front wall of my trailer I put in plastic "conduit" to run the camera cable through. I'm hoping to go through that all the way through the attic and then out the rear wall, unfortunately, still above the cargo door. There's no middle ground. I either put it above or below the cargo door.
I have the same dilemma. I currently have a Ferion wireless cam on the back of our Pinnacle (which is fine but I have to use the Ferion monitor in the cab) and am trying to figure out how to make the Ford cam work. Wonder why ford doesn't just come up with a wireless link (linked to the Sync monitor) to an off brand camera so we don't have to run a wire all the way back. I mean rotary dial telephones were replaced decades ago.... Come on man. I'm toying with the OP's idea and mounting the Ford cam on the rear bumper and then running the wire underneath but that would require removing part of the basement shroud which is not fun at all..... Let me know if anyone has a better idea. Thanks.

I'm in the exact same boat, except I don't have the Furrion camera, just the mount. I bought the Ford camera because I didn't want a second screen, but I haven't installed it on the fiver yet. I'm leaning towards running the cable under the frame because I'd rather not drill holes in the roof membrane if I don't have to. As soon as the weather gets a bit nicer I'm planning to roll around underneath and see if I can find a good path. I'll share my findings when I do, hoping others do as well.
I have an aftermarket camera system. I ran my wire along the LP gas line under the trailer using wire ties, then inside the plastic trim that covers the screws up to the top. I ran the wire alongside the trailer wire to the truck with a 2-prong connector so I can connect both plugs at the same time and my camera is always on when traveling. I connected the power to one of the uplifter switches to turn on the monitor and camera. I use it as my rearview mirror.

I ran the camera cable on the roof "temporarily" for three years. I used cable ties to keep it attached to whatever was handy (ladder, AC, solar panel, search light, etc.). It stayed up there just fine. If you don't like cable ties, put some Dicor Lap Sealant on the cable to hold it in place. A lot of RV owners are using the Dicor to hold their solar panel cables in place. Otherwise, routing it under the trailer is way more aesthetically pleasing. I did get tired of seeing the cable go up the front wall.

I'm still undecided at this time. My 5er is almost 42' long and I don't even know if the cable is long enough. And not sure they make an extension cable? I was able to get the TPMS system installed so I can watch the tire pressures. The only thing about the Ferrion cam is the extra monitor. I think I'll just find a spot on the dash.....

Why a camera for backing, you have a wife in the picture, she's paid for. I drove commercial long haul, no camera & I'm now 25 years into RV's starting at 16ft and grown to 36ft, no cameras. My wife has directed my backing any time she has been with me. I now tell "camp hosts" that want to guild me no, my wife will. We 3/4 time and have not found a space we have not been able to get into, even a couple blind sides when going to opposite direction would have been site side, no camera.

Maybe someday, I will be that comfortable with backing a 40' 5th wheel into a tight spot. For now, I will do belt and suspenders..... wife, and cameras.
Worst time I had in the big truck was they gave me a 48ft once, dang thing just did not want to go where I wanted it. After 53 footers and a couple 57 footers, thus 36 is a small and with some backing into sites it became much easier. I'm one that believes anyone pulling over a certain size should have to take some training and license. Wife picked a 40ft with a crew cab long bed. Took one look at the size it would be and said I need to learn to rive something that big. Enrolled in a CDL class, got a class A license and then got real dumb, I bought my own tractor. 750K later health stopped the commercial driving and here we are in the 36ft.
