Instrument Cluster Not Working
I have a 1997 Ford F150 Xlt 4X4 Ext. Cab with the 4.6l. A couple of days ago it was colder than usual so I decided to start my truck with technician installed command start. The vehicle started normally as usual. But when I went to the vehicle to start my day, I put in the key and turned it to the run position. Normally once the key is in the run position all the guages, radio etc. come on. But not this time, the radio comes on, but the guages do not, it looks like the tach comes on for about 15 seconds and then shuts off again. I checked fuses all ok. It sounds like the relay for the instrument panel is not releasing or engaging. Where is this relay located for the panel and is there a way to test it with a multimeter.
Thanks in Advance,
Dave

There is no relay for the insturment cluster.
If you're positive all the fuses are good I would probably remove the cluster and check for a bad connection where the wires attach to it.
Let us know what you find or if you have any more questions.
Turned out to be a connection not fully connecting. It all works great now. Thanks for your advice, if I would have listened to Command Starts techs, it would have cost me more than $300.00 for a complete electrical diagnostic.
Another satisified customer!
Dave
