Wondering how well the Ford plastic front fender liners fit and protect. I removed my air cleaner housing and noticed a large void right underneath it in the cloth fender liner. The air cleaner housing's bottom side was full of road salt spray, dirt/mud, etc., along with part of the engine,........ so I'm wondering if the plastic liners will prevent this. (2017)
The plastic liners provide the same coverage as the cloth liner does. Little to no additional coverage. The only upside to using them is ease of cleaning and subjectively better looks.
Thats what I was afraid of. I'll have to fab my own then with some thin sheet rubber. I don't like the idea of debris / water, etc. spraying up inside there, big mess with cow poop and mud, (especially when it hits the hot engine and burns lol)
On advantage might be that you could attach your extensions to the plastic liner. I do think it is odd that you can readily see the engine thru the wheelwell.
