I'll be the oddball & say I like them, especially in the flavor of 4wd.
I think what really sticks out are those later beds, which have taller bedsides. I remember reading here that Ford made one short Flareside bed from the 1950s until sometime in the early mid '70s, when it was discontinued. After a few years, they brought it back with the same fenders, but with the taller bedsides. I'm assuming that the Flareside long beds followed suit?
The first two trucks have the taller beds, while the second two have the lower sides - look at the distance between the tops of the fenders and the tops of the bedsides, particularly the stake pockets.. You can see that the taller beds have the top of the bedside angling up to where the metal is rolled, while the shorter bedsides are flat/perpendicular, where they transition into the 'roll.'
I like the lower long Flareside beds, but not so much the taller ones. The taller beds must look better on Bullnose/OBS trucks, because they don't have that pronounced 'hunchback' look which the Dents do with the taller bed.
