C6 torque converter
Some of you remember back in September I blew the transmission in the above truck towing way to heavy of a load. Found a shop to do the rebuild but was wondering which torque converter should I buy for this rebuild. I don't think I will be this heavy again ( 14k pounds combined) but may hit 10-12k combined again. (I HOPE NOT) Should I look at a TC from early 90s diesel or something else? I talked to the shop about the "Oregon transmission" site and their quality based on recommendations from this forum. I have not called them and I do not know if the shop did either or if they called their own supplier. I told the shop to set up the trans for moderate towing. Is that correct? When I bought the truck, it had/has a gooseneck ball in the bed. I have never towed a gooseneck trailer but it is there. The truck has 2 transmission coolers installed when purchased. Keep those and add a 3rd or ditch those and do a complete new one?
Any advise or more information needed please let me know.
Thanks in advance. Chris
In the day overloaded all steel goosenecks hauled horses and cattle all over the west as fast as an old v8 would go and the stock C6 was the least of your problems if you had a cooler on it.
