2003 excursion dome light
the front interior dome light stays on. All of the other interior lights go on and off when the doors are opened and closed and when using the dimmer switch. the door ajar light comes on when the doors are open and goes off when the doors are closed. the map lights work correctly when turning on and off.

The front interior dome lamp is wired in parallel with the rest of the interior (and exterior) courtesy lamp circuit. Unless the circuit has been modified, it is not logical for the front courtesy lamp to operate independently from the rest.
Is this a recently acquired truck that has done this since acquisition or did this behavior manifest during your ownership?

A few of us just bypass the dome lights; handy when camping with kids who can't keep a door closed.
