Any ideas on what is happening here? Happened when I was giving her a bath. No super high pressure. Looks like a caulking strip came out and brought the paint off with.
Did you use a pressure washer? Looks like you blew the caulking out of the seem between the wheel housing and the inner bed. These aluminum beds have large gaps between the panels. Some seems are not even caulked. Best advice is to Line-X.
It would be nice to know the cause. Perhaps we could take precautions to not allow that to happen to others.

It looks like the primer coat (black) is staying put, and only the top coat has peeled. Makes me wonder if that area of the bed was stressed a bit to cause the top layer to separate. Regardless, a "return to factory original" repair would be costly, and is a good reason/excuse to apply a spray-in liner.
New truck?
Not at all impressed with the paint jobs Ford is putting out.
AGREE! And you previously called out the fact there's no paint under the hood and inside the engine compartment. I think quality is lacking overall. I have five build issues to report when I take it back to the dealer.

Not new. The subject truck in this thread is a 2017 and is out of warranty.
