recently swapped out my v10 (long story short, my kid is an idiot and blew my up my f’ing engine) for a remanned Jasper. It’s my second one, great engine. Anyways since the swap my convertor keeps throwing the check engine code. I want to just remove the convertor completely, but I’m reading that I will have to “tune” the engine after the removal. The only tuning I know about is related to towing. I want to understand what is needed before I head over to the mechanic. Thanks guys! PS now that it’s back from the engine swap I will drop some “before” pics of this gold bus so you guys can watch it change from the gold bus to the HK Overlander.
First check tour wiring to the post cat O2 sensor. Maybe something got moved around during the motor install. If you have emissions testing go for a Kooks high flow green cat.
No emissions testing a like these with a metal substrate.
Unless your EX is a California spec build (check the emissions sticker under the hood) you don’t have an after cat O2 sensor that would need to be fooled with a tune. Most V-10 EXs just have the 2 pre cat sensors. What code exactly are you getting? Exactly how was the engine trashed? Depending on exactly what happened with the failed engine the cat could have become clogged. How is your performance otherwise currently? A clogged cat will reduce engine performance.

it’s a Texas truck till I got it and I’m in MI. My idiot son drove it in 4L at highway speeds. Blew a hole right out of the block. I’m still pissed off. It actually seems to be running great. I’ll have to ask the mechanic what the exact code is but when I took it in after the light came on he said “if it codes again we are probably going to have to replace the CAT.”
