Decoding 1976 F100 build sheet

Greetings,
I have a 1976 F100 which was rammed by a 2019 Honda Civic while I was on a jobsite. The rear bumper took a severe hit at an estimated 35 - 40 mph. The impact pushed the truck (parking brake was not working) causing it to swipe a telephone pole and came to rest on the neighbor's lawn, mere inches from hitting a large tree. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the Honda did not survive.

I would like some information regarding the code letters on the build sheet in order to determine the correct rear bumper for my truck. The letter C is listed under front, and it is indeed chrome. The rear however is listed as S, but does that mean silver paint, standard, or step bumper? I am the second owner and the only things that appear to have been replacements are the radio antenna and the tires & brakes. I did replace the bed cap for one that has tool storage and a ladder rack. Other than that, this truck is original including the straight six and the smog pump. Any help would be much appreciated.

As I understand it rear bumpers of that style were normally installed by the dealership, unless if was a special order. I see the S on the build sheet but do not know the 100% decode correct answer. I would agree that the S stands for silver and or step, since that is what you have.

And the S stands for scrap, since that is what that bumper is now.

Yeah, I always thought the bumper was a dealer option. They'd either install a stock Ford bumper or one of their own that would have their name stamped in. The trucks themselves even have a hidden license plate mount that meets legal requirements without a bumper.

By the way, those Westin bumpers are pretty eh. The old ones you'd find for half the money on Craigslist or a junkyard weigh twice as much.

Rear bumpers (and spare tires) were an option back in the day. Ford offered three rear bumpers from the factory. An automotive style in either chrome or paint and a step bumper that was painted silver argent.
A lot of trucks that were equipped with the step bumper came from the factory with no rear bumper and the dealer installed their own with the dealer name etched into it (permanent free advertising) plus they cost the dealer less than the factory installed bumper.
Your truck has a step bumber on it.
