4x4 issue

03 expedition XLT 5.4L TRITON 4x4 mode dash lights won't work they light up on start up then nothing no matter what position the switch is in

First thing you need to do I would say is to try to scan for codes then if any see what the trip criteria then go from there. If no codes then it could be the shift motor, I am having the same problem pretty much. I put the switch in awd and it flashes and keeps flashing then 4hi and low it doesnt even flash, I found that the connector had corrosion but I am not sure if it is fixed yet.

The switch turns the 4x4 on and off just fine but not the dash lights would that still be a corrosion issue?

Do you have a laptop ? You can download ForScan to see what your IPC module is showing. Some have fixed this issue by rewriting the correct code to the module. I don't know why but it gets corrupted after many years and won't turn on the light anymore.Using ForScan on a laptop. Go to the IPC section using Forscan. Click IPC using the regular programming and not the AS BUILT FORMAT. Change the first digit in the box 720-01-01 from a 0 to a 2 and write it. See how that works for you.
