Hi. Now its winter my pump is noisy. -7c and colder it get loud. There is bubble in the reservoir. when the truck has been running for a while it quietens to normal at normal running temps. The truck did the same last winter but ive had no issues anytime warmer than when sub zero. Is this likely to be a connection leaking air when the fluid is thicker ? No signs of leaking fluid and reservoir level is normal when not running. I will get her warmed up today and check to see if the bubbles disappear
The appearance of bubbles means you're pulling air into the system. Once warm, thermal expansion takes place and the bubbles go away. Either replace all of the o-rings in the pump or replace the pump itself.
Thanks. I gotta wonder though if air is getting in somewhere other than the pump itself though ? just wonder how common failures are on these pumps on a 2016 low hour motor. I see people pressure testing steering systems using a cooling system pressure tester to pinpiont the problem, can the system on my 2016 6.7 be pressure tested in the same way ? I dont want to install a new pump without knowing for sure the pump is the problem yet as its a lot of work and cost for me if its simply a seal on a line somewhere. have you had to change one out for the same symptoms ? Thanks
