I have a 2005 F250 with 140k miles. I’ve owned the truck since 2008 when it had 50k on it. This is my boat and toy hauler. Really loving some of the new mods and updates to this motor/ truck.
Recently did the 4” turbo back exhaust, cat punch. Edge CTS2, sinister diesel stand pipes and dummies, 6.7L starter, Motorcraft IPR and ICP, blue spring kit, and Mishimoto coolant filter. Also did the K&N cold air intake.
This truck really came to life with these updates. The 6.7L starter is a huge upgrade alone. Maybe I’ll post some pics when I get past the 5th post.
Personally, I do not think that the K&N filter works as well as the stock filter. You do know that the stock filter set-up pulls in cold air - right? It is a cold air intake and the stock filter is the best available.
As far as Sinister goes, I wouldn't keep buying parts from them - especially oil coolers and things that need to have a long life on gaskets and o-rings.
Thanks for the reply, I’m sure you’re correct about the K&N filter. I did get the kit that has all the plumbing, tho I’m certainly not going to defend it. As far as cold air intake, I’ve seen no difference in IAT through my CTS2 at speed. At idle however, the IAT climbs well over the stock filter assy. This has to be due to the fact the K&N is not completely sealed from the engine compartment. So that’s a definite strike against this system. Once I start moving, the temps start to drop significantly. Does that outweigh the benefits of less restriction and better turbo whistle? I’m not sure…..time will tell I guess.
Sinister Diesel is top notch, with a cool logo. The only think I don’t like is they are so much more expensive than others, even Motorcraft, (not including cheap Chinese knock offs that I despise). Their cool stickers and shirts sometimes still aren’t enough to make let go of my green backs….
LOL - Sinister Diesel is certainly not "Top Notch" They have failures in many of their parts. The poor` quality of their soft goods indicate Chinese sourcing.
Been around too long to fall for "cool logos". Do some searching. Start with oil cooler failures.
FWIW, I only bought the stand pipes and dummy plugs from them. Those aren’t too out of line from the Motorcraft upgrade from stock. I purchased after looking at reviews, admittedly before joining this forum.
