so....heres what I have come to..the 3 ways I am looking at are 240 watts and they are cheaper than the 2ways i were going to get...so is that watt low or what ..?should i go with the 3ways that are cheaper......?
MudinMan, they "say" they are 240 watts but thats not actual wattage. They are most likely designed to run off of the 45watts (or whatever) per channel your deck puts out. 240w is supposedly its "max" or "peak power". Really its just a selling thing. Gtex is right..... most 2 way speakers are all around better for cost vs. usage ratio. If you really want good bassey sounding toons you gotta go with a woofer, sub, or mid. Woofers sound good with any kind of music...... even oldies! Well...........
ok...I get that but I am saying the 3ways(Sale) are actually cheaper than the 2ways(new) I have was going to get so...should i get those or go with the 2way more excepnsive.....?
Mud man,
Here's some other things.
In answer to your questions.
I have a Sony CDX-MP30. It's not a monster but has all the bells and whistles I wanted. It puts out
52 watts x4. Meaning peak power at all four channels. It's advertised as a 204 watt stereo.
It's features included XM ready, (If I ever want to invest in the new tuner to recieve that. I can hook it to the player.) MP3/CD-R/CD-RW compatiblity.
All the normal functions, including connectors for adding a subwoofer, plus Sonys famous Bass sound. Which is adjustable via a three setting boost control.
I have the most fun putting a ton of MP3 tracks on a CD-RW disc listening to it for a while, erasing that and dumping a bunch of others on it and playing that again for a while. What a great feature! one disk and using it over and over! I love That.
Yes once I was done carving the metal and mounted the speakers I was almost done. The routing of the wire was a snap. If you look close in one of the pics I posted in my gallery, you can make out where I have zip tied the wire to the hinge. The wire goes into the hinge box and fits through one of the tiny openings in the box quite easy. I had routed the wire down behind the dash and tucked under the side edge of my carpet until it got to even with the hinge cavity of the front quarter panel. That's where I drilled a small hole to pass the wire through (I'm sure others have another way to do this but that's how I got it done.) to the door hinges and then into the door. With care I got it so theres not enough slack to get caught anywhere in the hinge or pinching in the door (zip ties on the door hinge took care of that) or any chaffing of the insulation to date either. The wire then is hooked to the speakers, since they are in that forward postion, the hardware for the window doesn't even get close to the speakers frame or the wiring.
As for dealing with any other hardware inside the door? I didn't have to. Just removed the arm rest, levers, trim, and panel. Then went to work on it.
Hope this helps you out. Good Luck!
alright .....thanks....I am pretyy sure I am going to do this my only delay is the radio but some one said they would get me one for a favor...lol woo hoo....and the flow masters money is set aside just got wait on another deal to finish up.....Thanks hawk...and if i have any questions hope you dont mind me asking...but i should be able to customize any thing i need i am prety handy that way...thanks........
Gtex, I was wondering, the new panel looks bigger than the old one. Did you have any trouble putting it in? It looks real nice, and gives you a place to put your other gauges. How long did it take to put in?
The panels were modeled after the metal panels. The Vinyl trim probably adds some width and it's thicker. It's a bit tight on the window crank and the door handle but works fine with a bit of lube.
I plan to put the original black/chrome trim ring back on the edge. I think it will look better.
But all in all, I have a very good sounding setup and I did not tear up anything in the doors or dash.
No sir, to both items.
The only trimming that I had a mild and I mean a mild concern was with the box that houses the hinge in the door. The door skin is tack welded to it
I had to trim through the layers and remove a small portion of the box. I haven't ran into any trouble with the doors at all after having done that. My speakers are the regular depth of all other 6x9's on the market. They are not a shallow model.
They didn't get anywhere near the interior hardware to cause any restrictions, nor did any wiring.
ok....i did actually have to cut the window rail supprt away but fab'd a new one got one side done then started pooring on me ,thanks a mill hawk it fits awsome points right in tha cab...and looks great all i need now is a cd player, to cheap to go out and just buy brand new one so looking for a good deal some where than if i cant find then got go get brand new one....any ways thanks i think this was the best way to do it for me personally...
