It's nice to know these trucks will do it in an emergency if needed. I was able to get mine plugged in at least when it was -25 yesterday morning. Fired up instantly to high idle. Coolant temp showed 59 degrees F on the dash, but it still shook when it fired and instantly went to 1100 RPM. Need to read in my manual and see if that's normal to go straight to high idle before the oil pressure even has a chance to come up.

Coldest for mine so far has been low 20's, but have been very impressed by the way it starts, it jumps instantly to life at the turn of the key or remote start and idles very smoothly right off the bat.
And, have only seen the glow plug indicator light up for more than an instant one time, and that was only like 2 seconds.

Many things have been impressive on my new truck, and many things have been disappointing.

People spec the block heater, plug in a 1,500 watt draw thinking they need them when it gets below 32 degrees.
Dealers push them and help create that fear. They’re a cheap option so not a big deal, but the electric they use, especially when they are really not needed? Yikes.
Just use a full syn oil that is temp stable and she’ll easily and safely start in any weather.

I use my block heater for the simple and selfish reason the truck makes heat sooner. Truck will start just fine in cold temps without it, I know. I have mine on a timer 2-3 hours before I leave.

I try to use mine anytime it's parked outside and going to get below 15 degrees or so. I use 5-40 synthetic year round, but the engine is much happier starting when it's plugged in during these Montana winters. I end up driving my trucks for a couple hundred thousand miles so anything I can do to prolong its life is good in my book. Plus it gets warm in the cab faster as Pugga said!

Yep. This last week +, our Montana temps have dipped to single digits to negative double digits. I use the block heater on my 2019 F250 6.7 when it gets below 10 degrees. Makes heat in the cab quicker, figure it can't hurt to have at least part of all those moving, interacting pieces heated up when they start moving around.

Truck only has 2500 miles on it, winter pump fuel. Will say I think this truck could use a winter front at these temps, warmed up to full running after 20 mins on highway but looses heater temp when I slowed down.

Running the block heater for a few hours before driving it will increase fuel mileage too, enough to offset the very small price for electricity.

-31*F is -35*C up north here.Chilly for sure. I try and plug my 6.7 in for sure when it hits anything below -25*C. Just because it CAN start on its own at those temps, why torture it? Plug it in..
Our cold snap seems to be breaking, some other towns up here not so lucky, they were seeing -56*C, or -69*F... Them's stay inside by the fire and drink beer kind of temperatures
