If its leaking, its either defective or just old and had it. You should look at replacing it before it completely blows out and dumps all the coolant on the ground leaving you stranded somewhere.

Yes replace it now before it completely goes. Also be wary of aftermarket on these. I bought on at napa and it failed after 2 months and started leaking. Bought an oem motorcraft and been fine ever since
It should be replaced, remember it’s 21 years old and not if, but when it goes you don’t want to be on the side of the road at 3 am. As stated above use Motorcraft Good luck.
It is super easy to replace. Disconnect the 3 hose clamps with a pliers, Disconnect the vacuum line, then remove from the hoses. Installation is the reverse. You will loose a little coolant, but probably not enough that would need to have it topped off.
