AOD Compatibility

Does anyone know if the AOD Transmission is compatible with a carbureted engine or is it strictly exclusive to electronic fuel injection? I’m sorry if this seems an ignorant question but I’m an old school guy and when my current 4.2 expires (if it ever does) I have big stroker Windsor plans for my truck and am trying to educate myself.

The AOD is a mechanically operated transmission with no electronics except the reverse light switch and maybe a NSS connection.

It relies on hydraulic pressure internally to run the "works".
