Hi all,
I have a 2009 f350 dually and have some questions about doing the rear brakes.
What size bearing lock nut socket will I need?
What is the torque for the lock nut?
Due I need to replace the axle shaft seal?
Is there a hub gasket or any other gasket/seal that needs to be replaced?
Any other surprises I should now about?
I've done brakes before, just never on rear duallys.
Thanks in advance!
OTC 7269 is the socket for the real axle nut used on the dually. There's an o-ring for the axle face you should replace. I don't recall the axle nut torque but you'll find it if you use the search function. Brake job itself is easy. Just don't ignore the caliper pins since many seem to do so.
I could be wrong, but aren't the rear rotors independent of the rear hub? i.e. you don't have to remove the hub to remove the rotor for a brake change unless you also want to change the hub bearings too. At least I know all the SD's I've owned are that way.
