This is a streaming box that I get freeffor a year with Xfinity internet. Finally got around to hooking it up and it's 'OK', Has a limited number of apps and you can't add any -- or none that they aren't connected to. Will probably can it at the end of the year.
In the mean time, I have a question for other users -- is there an easy way to shut it off? As far as I can see it keeps broadcasting away and the only shutoff is to pull the power cord. The remote has a power button -- but that's for the TV.
Just wondering -- not real happy with the way that seems to work.
I have Xfinity X! which is pretty much the same as Flex. Yes the number of apps is limited and no you cannot edit the list which I think sucks. No the boxes never turn off, but they will go into standby mode after 4-hours of no activity. The reason (so I'm told) they don't turn off is because they have to be in regular contact with the streaming servers, otherwise it would take several minutes to sync every time the box is turned on. There is no HDD so the amount of power the box uses in standby is next to nothing.

If you have the Xfinity button on your remote press that and see if the menu offers a way to add subscriptions . and no the power always in on .
Have you checked the settings or the manual for any hidden shutdown options? I found out that sometimes those remotes have some hidden shortcuts or combo buttons that do the trick. You might wanna dig into the manual or do a quick Google search for your specific model.
