Bob, I'm 20 miles north of you in Butner and we aint lost power at all, but we have the generator ready just in case. Oxford has no power, Henderson has no power, and half of Creedmoor is out of power. Butner is still under full power.
Just came from topping off all the vehicles with gas, as well as filling up my 5 gallon container for the generator. I'm surprised the gas companies haven't used the impending hurricane as an excuse to raise prices yet again. Extension cords are at the ready, generator's good to go, batteries have been inserted into flashlights, candles ready to burn. Bring it on Isabel, this Jersey boy is ready for ya'! I love the sound my generator makes, letting all the neighbors know I come prepared... only had to use it once so far during the blackout that hit about a month ago, but it's nice to have around.
Help is on the way. I left Pine Grove PA about 1:00 PM Wednesday and when I was on the PA pike I hade to have passed over 500 utility and tree service trucks heading east. Also I saw a lot of flatbeds with plywood and generators heading that way.
Good luck to you all out east and be safe.
fisher, I'm just outside Richmond, VA and we've been getting hard rain all day. The wind is really picking up now and the worst is still yet to come. You are welcome to all this rain. I've had enough.
I'm tired of waiting for something (or nothing?) to happen so I think I'm gonna turn out the lights and light candles anyway. Other Bower might like that...(hopeful grin)
