In a 76 F-250 your front axle will be a Dana 44HD "Heavy Duty" . Not sure what all the differences are between standard 44 and the HD but likely the HD has a higher weight capacity so its probably beefed up in key areas. The tell-tale indicator of the HD is they had the big diameter Spicer hubs with red locking insert though quite a few of these big hubs have been replaced over the years.

Thank you very much. I am going to hunt down a set of Spicer hubs and do away with the ones that are on it now.
You know I believe those old Selectro hubs are made by Mile Marker? Why change them, do they not work? Or just hard to turn? Maybe they just need taken off and cleaned up. A little hub/front lock in out maint can get them back to easy turn normal. The old grease can set up and make them hard to turn.
If you get some Mile Marker, Warn, they are only going to replace the end piece and look almost the same. That axle will probably have to retain the short stick out stub that the lock in/out mounts on.
When/if you are buying online beware the area where the bolts seat on the chrome ring get mushed over from overtightening and the fact that its pot metal. There will most likely be some degree of mushrooming on used ones you find but as long as its not too bad they will be OK. These are getting a little tough to find without breaking the bank but like anything you will succeed with patience and persistence. There's a set on ebay now but....$$$$
A short time ago I saw an NOS pair of just the chrome rings sell for $700. Crazy. They do turn up more reasonable in other venues.
Chevy used the same hub but the plastic insert was yellow and said Spicer. The ones for Ford were red and say Ford. These plastic inserts are reproduced in the colors but believe they all have a Spicer decal.
