i had a gray f150 before my AB f250 and would blast down forest service roads with no regard.... now.... not so much. A gentle breeze will scratch this paint.
good info. That’s why I asked. Seems some colors are softer, im guessing, than others. But I’m definitely not an expert.
That is about the only wonky thing about ordering. I’ve heard this about the Animatter blue looking almost black. Which makes me wonder how the atlas blue in person actually looks. In configurator atlas blue looks almost like grabber blue, which I love But in vids it looks more metallic.
Our truck on order is Atlas Blue. Ive seen it a few times on the Explorer's. Love the color. Weve owned a TON of white and silver cars(just sold an Explorer ST that was Carbonized Grey) so decided on something different. We were going between Atlas Blue and Stone Grey.
Would have loved to have been able to order Space White or Lead Foot from the F150, but alas, its not available. If I had ordered an F150 it would have been Space White.
If you want a truck that stays clean all by itself, go solid white. Although the two tone white/gray runs a close second. Any other color will show dirt. Had a white Ranger and a white F-150 and got spoiled to not washing or waxing to the point of neglect and still looked pretty good.
And I can attest that Rapid Red will not stay clean by itself either...
On Edit: Re-read the OP. White will hide scratches and dings better than any other color. In southern heat it's way cooler, too.
My cousin went with one of the reds with the sport package. I like it but my wife is not into red or blue.
We went with carbonized gray and the color is one of the things I didn't consider changing while trying to figure out the best combination for my wants and needs. Apparently, it hides the dirt well. Black was tough to keep clean and scratch free and I'm not going that way again. We had a taffeta white Yukon so done with white for awhile and her MDX is silver so I'm running out of options. LOL.
Yep. Liked Rapid Red enough to pay an extra $400 to get it. Race Red is a young mans color. (like under 25) While Rapid Red is darn pretty it doesn't meet the OP's hiding requirements for scratches, dings and dirt. And I just can't stand for my new (and expensive) toy to show dirt. Rapid Red will show water spots where the rain has collected dirt before evaporating. Like crazy. Gives me something to do, I guess.
My F450 is antimatter blue two tone and is absolutely gorgeous. I personally love how the color shifts in different light. It’s a very classy look. That said, it does show dirt easily. I have a coat of ceramic applied, and keep a supply of speed shine and microfibers handy. I think it’s the most attractive color scheme with the two tone of all of them…. Eye of the beholder……
My favorite color is blue but my last 4 vehicles have been white. Platinum white for the 2011 F150 I bought new - repainted it two years ago and added more pearl to the mix and it's stunningly gorgeous.
I ordered a 2022 F350 in..... Star White Metallic Tri-Coat. I pondered blue but that tri-coat white just speaks to me when the sun hits it right.

i do love that color scheme. That’s why it’s on my short list. Sexy as hell for sure.
IMO- the blue and red color choices for 2022 SUCK big time. I went with star white because of that. Not sure why they didn't offer a "blue jeans" blue, or a dark burgundy/ruby red. Bummer.
Get the color you love. White is easier, but not necessarily easy. White is very plain and very popular. It needs to be perfectly clean to stand out. I went with Star White for two reasons. One, it was the right color for this trim, and two, I’ve never owned a white truck.
Antimatter is a very unique blue/black color, and if that is the one you really like, go for it. It’s a hot looking color. You can not go wrong.
Personally, I honk two tone is slightly out of style. A pure color shined up?👍

I’d say it’s more so that darker colors just show flaws (whether that’s dirt or a scratch) easier than lighter colors. I don’t know anything about paints but I would imagine that if any of the factory paints are applied correctly, with the clear coat they would all be just as durable? I could see how the ones that cost extra may have more coats of the paint, clear coat, or both though. Otherwise, I would assume that all the base paints are equal in terms of durability, but the darker the color, the harder to maintain.
After decades of white, I bought silver. Next Ford will be Star White. The extremely hard water here show up pretty easy in the silver and I thing the white hides dust a bit better. I do think the silver is sexier, but it's just a truck and I don't like washing/waxing that much anymore.
