High EGT's

Just finsihed installing Pyro and Boost gauges and much to my surprise - it's too high! Running the Diablo 60 HP tune gets to 1200 degrees at WOT. Too much for my comfort! I got nervous about it and bumped down to the tow setting (40HP). At that setting it runs about 900 at WOT. Is this normal for stock exhaust? I didn't think the EGT's would be that high on the 60HP setting. I guess it's time for 4" exhaust. I highly recommend the pillar pod and gauge set. Looks great and will no doubt help in the long run. I put in the Isspro set for about $215.

Your EGT's are completely normal for stock intake and exhaust with a chip.

There is no correct answer for this, some with dual pyros have seen a variance of 100-500*F from preturbo readings.

well, it was on a hard pull up hill pulling a 7000 lb boat in 4th gear. Guess i should mount it pre turbo for more reliable readings.

From what i have read with a chip and only 3 in exhaust 1200 is normal. If you get above 1400 bully dog says it's too hot. but if you add a four or five inch exhaust your temps should drop to below 1000. Then you can really turn up the juice and have fun.

I would guess 1000-1100 pre turbo. High rpm's in lower gears tend to keep the exhaust temps down.
