Who else has a throttle pull?

So I noticed my truck has this throttle pull when I rebuilt the carburetor. It’s pretty cool because it’s like cruise control by pulling it it holds the throttle open. Is this a factory thing? Do all the trucks come with it in 1960?

Nope! I have only seen them added to farm trucks so they could get out and toss hay in an open field

it looks pretty factory. Could be a DSO?

That does look original but I've never seen one on the smaller trucks. I added one on mine but it came off a larger truck that had a PTO. I've used it for cruise control a few times out on open desert roads..

If you encounter wildlife or traffic on the road, the throttle pull could be a liability. The farm field thing was pretty awesome in granny gear. The truck moved at walking speed across the open field and we could work without a driver safely. PTO reason also makes sense...

'58 F600 had one.

We had a C600 cab my dad was going to use to repair another C600. It was around a '58 or '60....it had one.

Not uncommon in '30s to '50s, cars and trucks.

Poor excuse for a cruise controll as you'll be down to nothing up a hill, running away down the hill and have it working against you in an emergency stop.

But it works fine out in the field loading hay.

How does it attach to carburetor? I wish I had one every time I'm dumping loads of sand. The only other old dump truck I drove in past had it. It was a '57 chevy though.

I believe the F350 I got for a parts truck years ago had one, so I might have one kicking around someplace.

we always used a tractor and wagon for hay, and you could set the throttle on all tractors back then. I sure would hate to walk/run alongside and throw hay up 6-7 layers high these days. I am not sure if I could throw it on an empty wagon! LOL

I was shocked the other day at how heavy twenty-five pound dog food bags have become.

I had a long day at work today, in the rain and cold, loading and breaking concrete. I will take a photo in the morning.

it hooks up to the carb with added linkage

I probably would be afraid to touch mine. It took me years to get a gas pedal to work.

i wouldn’t use it on back roads or hilly roads. I am not sure how fast the truck will go but I am hoping for 55-60 on the freeway

No rush. I'm out of commission with a killer cold, week two. I would only use mine to keep engine r's up while lifting loaded dump bed.
