I get the feeling that the salesmen are not very knowledgeable when it comes to building a truck to suit your needs.
This is true. I'm sure there are some out there who are knowledgeable and will give you the low-down on situation, but mine and the sales manager didn't. definitely a good thing to do doing your research ahead of time.
Long bed or short bed. Regular cab, super cab, crew cab? Most # will be with in a few hundred pounds or so.
He wants a short bed with the crew cab. Since it will be his daily he is worried about the parking issues you will get with the CCLB.
The trailer is interested in has a dry weight of 12,500 with a gross of 16,000
There’s always a trade off. The longer wheelbase will give you a more stable platform, a little more payload, a 48 gallon fuel tank and more room for stuff. The shorter truck will give you a little bit more maneuverability. I’ve had both and I like the long bed especially on long trips. For my use the long bed pros outweighed the cons but either one would work. As mentioned above I always back in parking you get used it.

It should do it fine, just needs to be aware of the 34 gallon gas tank.. I would stick with the 18s and 275/70/18 tires to get some more *** out of the gearing as opposed to the taller 20s.
I guess after 22 years of owning/ driving longbed supercab trucks I don’t think it's that bad and a crewcab is is only 8" longer. Comparing just the crewcab lengths a shortbed is 250", longbed 266.2". I guess 16" doesn't seem like that big of a deal to loss the 8' bed but if he's doesn't need a longbed. But as most have learned you get use to the size pretty fast and not only the length but the width of these trucks.
Plus a 48 gallon fuel tank instead of 34 gallon tank.
As Senix mentioned you learn to back into parking spots or just park farther away and get some exercise. Do a 3,4 point turn instead of a 2 point. Big 10 ply tires with good ground clearance helps going over curbs when needed.
Looking to build a truck for my son. He wants a F350 lariat. He would like the 7.3 SRW. Plans on towing a fifth wheel weighing in at 16000 loaded. Can he get away with the 3.73 or should he go with the 4.30 would like to use it as a daily driver also. Any insights would be helpful
Thanks
