Family member has a F250, where the headlight switch is not working. He says that the dash has no light and his parking lights flickers. He got a new switch and put it on, but it blew a fuse (forgot now which fuse). Per his diagnosis, if he only plugs in the grey connector, the parking lights work just fine (no flicker), but he has no headlight (going off memory here..) and no dash light. But as soon as he plugs in the black connector, either blows a fuse or get the flickering. To me, it sounds like something is shorted out. So I had him check the connectivity of the black connector. He is saying that except for the 'blue' wire, which gets power, the red/yellow and the light blue wire are grounded. That does not seem right to me - why would red/yellow (think it says switch illumincation circuit) and light blue (says interior lamp circuit) be touching ground directly? Or am I missing something here?
No diagram in front of me however....
If he is reading wiring that feeds lights he will get indications of ground with a bit of resistance because the light is grounded on the other side. Can not help with colors but pull all the bulbs and try again, and I do mean all bulbs running, fogs, turn signal, headlights, and brakes.
Checking each wire at the bulb socket may be easer to locate a common issue.
