Just curious if this it stock/normal or not… look at the small leaf springs on the top??
Could I swap those to the bottom and get a small lift to ‘level’ the truck? I’d like to level the truck but don’t want the stuff ride associated with add a leafs.
That is not OEM stock on a 99.5. I can't say for sure of an early 99. That said, I have no clue what the purpose of those two springs would be on top of the main leafs - so I would say not OEM. You could probably put those under the two leaf pack.
Definitely not stock or normal. Ive got no clue why someone would have put those short springs on top. They look like some of the leveling kits that someone installed on the wrong side.
My guess is someone took some thicker springs off and used those as a spacer to fit too long ubolts. Or they swapped that from under pad to top to put truck back to stock. Ya u can put those under the leaf to add a little lift. They have to be attached to the rest of the spring with the centerpin bolt tho. Be prepared for the existing pin bolt to break, and use vice grip or c clamps to hold spring together upon disassembly of the spring pack.
Y'all are mistaken. That is a rare suspension travel reducer. It achieves this by reducing the distance the axle has to travel before it hits the bump stop. It is used when a 1-ton truck is prepped for racing on a track, by Europeans typically.
Dang maybe I need to hit the track and see how this baby drifts! Haha!
Thanks for the reply’s everyone. I think I’ll swap those to the bottom and try and get a little lift out of the ol’ girl. Might be more work than it’s worth though..
Thinking I’ll flip these small springs around to the bottom of the leaf pack soon. Any idea on the size of bolt I’ll need for the leaf pack and where to find them? Not sure I’ll find them locally…. Thanks for any help!
