Traction control/Stability Control Rant

I don't have too many complaints about my truck, but the one that keeps coming to mind is TCS and SCS. I have a 2010 5.4 FX4 and the most annoying thing about it is how much the systems baby you but don't really seem to add IMHO any substantial value to my safety and contradictorily actually seems to be unsafe in many cases. I know that there's a couple of fuses that you can take out to completely disable it but it also disables your ABS which is not cool. But what I'm curious about is whether or not anyone knows of a way to disable JUST the TCS and SCS other than disabling all safety nets. I've read quite a few threads with inconclusive results other than pulling a fuse under the hood and one inside.

That was a pretty decent read there. I appreciate it. I figured I was missing something when I was searching. I'll have to try the toggle switch idea. I just figured that pulling the fuses disabled everything even including ABS which as I said before was something I wanted to avoid. I drive my truck a lot in my fields and I've noticed that TCS and RSC hindered me when pulling something or trying to get up a hill more than it helped and...of course, who doesn't every so often have to deal with some mud? I remembered last year when I went fishing I had to drive across a riverbed which is under most circumstances easy to traverse as it's mostly gravel until a certain point and I've driven through it hundreds of times with other vehicles without issue but much like any mud, wheel speed and momentum are your friends...but TCS says ''naw, they're your friends, but I'm your ex wife.''

I too have a grave dislike for all the nannies on these vehicles today. I put a mild tow tune on mine and it allows you to turn off just the traction control except contrary to claims it doesn't stay off, you still have turn it off each time you start it but it stays off until you shut truck off. Same tune from same vendor on my 15 super duty stayed off period.

Yes, I absolutely hate it. I guess I was rather spoiled in a way that the truck AB replaced was a 98 2V and the only form of Traction Control was either the ditch you're in or mud deciding you've gone far enough. I was reading somewhere on here that ''legally'' tuners cannot and should not be able to disable any of the traction systems as like your EGR and stuff...they're federally mandated systems. But I would LOVE for the traction button to actually keep the systems off, especially in 4WD, what I'm curious about is whether or not people who have Raptors suffer from the same problem...I would imagine not because of it being intentionally designed to be beat on at full throttle in a dune or whatever.

I prefer the traction control built into my right foot, but that's not lawyer proof so we get stuck with all this silliness. You got me wondering, the raptor may be like the Mustang and have mode switches. My 20 has various ways to disable TC and STC, not sure how design got that by the legal dept. but I like it. Does you TC engage in 4wd, I thought it was disabled, maybe only 4 low? Now I'm going to have go try it.

You are correct. The Raptor has the ability to go into "Off Road Mode" then select "sport" traction control, or completely defeat it for fun off road antics...
